Advent Lutheran Church, a caring community of believers in Jesus Christ, desiring to be faithful to God.

Context

See people with problems and needs within our families, our community and throughout the world. We live in a society that increasingly lacks a sense of community, isolates individuals and families, and is fearful. People of prejudice, abused and neglected children, broken homes, over-worked adults and forgotten senior citizens are signposts of this society. Further, we see people yearning for meaning in their lives, looking for a place in a supportive community, and seeking to be valued as individuals. Through Jesus Christ, and the community that bears His name, we believe that there can be solutions, healing, and meaningful living.

The Vision

Called by God's Spirit, we pledge ourselves to share with all persons the good news of grace, forgiveness, and hope through gracious acceptance of the humanity of others, by speaking words of forgiveness to others, and by acting with compassion and hope towards others. We desire to build bridges between diverse people, bridge gaps that exist in community care, and restore human community to all who live here. And in so doing, become a beacon of hope, a light of peace, and a church for all people.

Our Mission

To bring this vision to light, we will strengthen our belief in Jesus Christ our Savior and friend, seek out and make room for all people, and grow in our ability to serve others joyfully.
